Social media platform accounts sometimes lose their connection to our scheduling and publishing tools. This is a normal occurrence across all platforms — not a sign of a security breach. Here's what it means and how we handle it.
Why Accounts Get Disconnected
Platform disconnections happen for several common reasons:
- Password change — if you changed your password on a platform, it revokes all connected tool access automatically
- Platform security review — platforms periodically audit connected apps and may require re-authorization
- Token expiration — the access tokens that allow our tools to post on your behalf expire periodically (usually every 60–90 days for some platforms)
- Two-factor authentication changes — modifying your 2FA settings can trigger a disconnection
How We Handle It
Our team monitors account connection status across all client accounts regularly. In most cases, we catch a disconnection before it causes a missed post and re-establish the connection without you needing to do anything.
If a disconnection requires action on your end — such as re-entering credentials or approving a re-authorization — we'll email you immediately with step-by-step instructions. These re-authorizations typically take less than 2 minutes.
Which Platforms Disconnect Most Often
Some platforms require more frequent re-authorization than others. In our experience, Facebook and Instagram (via Meta) require re-authorization most frequently — typically every 60 days. TikTok and LinkedIn are generally more stable. YouTube connections, when managed through an authorized API, are the most reliable.
If You're Seeing a Disconnection Right Now
Email Contact Us with the platform name. We'll check the connection on our end and either fix it remotely or send you re-authorization instructions within one business day.
